The Shepherd's Progress, Orla Barry

Conceived and imagined in close collaboration with Orla Barry on the occasion of her exhibition at MACS, The Shepherd's Progress brings together a majority of the works (texts, installations, performances) produced by the artist since she returned to live in her native Ireland.

This work testifies to the links that Orla Barry forges between her career as an artist and that of a shepherd.

Its form is a tribute to Lucy Lippard's book Eva Hesse (New York University Press, 1976) – whose exact form and dimensions it reproduces – and which has nourished her throughout her artistic life.
