“Brionglóid” (“Dream” in Irish) was born from a series of themed Instagram Reels created by co-funder Brían Sparks for the Island Photographers account. Inspired by the visual storytelling of these Reels, Island Photographers transformed one of them into their first publication, the start of an ongoing series celebrating contemporary photography from across Ireland.
A total of 41 of Ireland’s most exciting photographers collaborated to bring this dream to life. After many iterations, the final publication was designed with a striking cover by graphic design star Keith Nally and printed in Lithuania by specialist printers Kopa. The result is a lavish 48-page large-format (36 x 25 cm) publication — too sophisticated to be a zine, and not quite a book — hence the artists' choice to call it a publication.
The goal of Brionglóid is to raise awareness of contemporary Irish photography both within Ireland and internationally.
