String Machine 2 entailed the commissioning of new recorded works for stringed instruments from Dónal Lunny and Leopold Hurt. These works were then used as the sole source material for digital recompositions by David Donohoe & Eamonn Doyle and by Stephan Mathieu. All sound in the recompositions was generated exclusively from the bouzouki and zither using digital processes.
