The concept was inspired by the author’s experience with a major depressive episode, and the distanced sense of oneself that came with it. The design of this book is intended to reflect the feeling of the work itself, evoking a sense of confusion, fuzziness, or difficulty in navigating. This occurs both visually and experientially, as one moves through pages that overlap, working through text that can be physically challenging to see and
read clearly. Via semi-transparent pages, words and images intermingle,
speak to each other, move together and apart.
