026 - Nathalie Ericson is the twenty-sixth in an ongoing Bi-Monthly series publishing the work of emerging photographers.
I began exploring the medium of photography in 2011 and later I found my style with a twin-lens reflex camera. When I found the camera, creativity became part of my everyday life. Suddenly I understood the emotions I had carried inside of me.
In my artistic practice I explore the inner poetic world through the analog medium and experimental processes. My visuals are influenced by dreams and the interplay between poetry and pictures.
The subject, time and movement are processed to suggestive stories: Gazes that wait, body movements that act, objects speak their own language and the hidden manifests itself in a way that is only possible through the visual worlds.
Most of my photos are self-portraits together with recurring motifs that are interwoven with nature´s flora and fauna. I see the camera as a tool to explore existence for a moment, and then an intuitive process determines the expression of the photos.
Nostalgic memories are united in the camera lens – the world becomes a playful act; a haunted longing to understand the unknown spaces that man climbs.
