019 - Lena Aires is the nineteenth in an ongoing Bi-Monthly series by Setanta Books publishing the work of emerging photographers.
'The process of creating photos is a way for me to lean into my imagination - to bring things in the world together, to see what meaning comes out of that process.
I enjoy working with the things that I love: the spiritual, nature, animals, intimacies; quiet and tender moments. The sensual always seems to appear in my photographs - whether through the quality of light, a human gesture or the creatures and plants.
The images in this book were taken in North Wales, where I grew up and where, for me, a lot of archetypal powers intersect. Juxtaposed with my self-portraiture and still life, these images form an important chapter in my life and work up until now.'
