Artist Statement

White Clothes, Essaouira 2025 is a black and white photograph showing white garments scattered across sunlit bushes, drying in the early morning light. In the corner, a cat lingers in the shade. The image forms part of the ongoing series Many Moons Passed - a slow, fragmentary portrait of Essaouira in Morocco, a city touched by the lingering myth of Jimi Hendrix. Photographed over several years, the series moves by intuition rather than narrative, tracing moments of atmosphere, rhythm, and stillness that together evoke a sense of time passing.

About the Artist

David J Moore (b. 1983, UK) lives and works in Dublin, Ireland. He is a photographer and a graduate of the IADT BA (Hons) Photography programme. He was previously the director and curator of the Dennis Dinneen Archive from 2013 to 2023. Moore’s work has been exhibited in both Ireland and internationally. His photographic practice, documentary in style, often explores the edges of environments and the boundaries between reality and fiction.
