Im Jahr 2001 lud die Gruppe Temporary Services ihren Freund Angelo, einen Gefangenen in Kalifornien, ein, über die verschiedenen Dinge zu schreiben und sie zu zeichnen, die er bei anderen Gefangenen erfinden sah.
Angelo illustrierte alles von Tauchsiedern mit elektrischen Steckern aus Rasierklingen, Büroklammern und Eis am Stiel bis hin zu Kochmethoden für Bologna Jerky an eingebauten Zellenleuchten. Aus diesen Zeichnungen und Schriften entstand das Buch und vielfach ausgestellte Projekt „Prisoners' Inventions“, das erstmals 2003 veröffentlicht wurde.
Diese neu gestaltete und erweiterte Ausgabe von Prisoners' Inventions enthält viele Seiten mit zusätzlichen Zeichnungen und Schriften, die Angelo nach der letzten Auflage angefertigt hat, sowie eine neue Einführung von Temporary Services, die die Ursprünge und die Lebensdauer des Projekts detailliert beschreibt. Prisoners' Inventions offenbart eine oft vernachlässigte Seite des Gefängnisdaseins: die Notwendigkeit, jene Objekte und Erfahrungen zu schaffen, die es ermöglichen, die grundlegendsten menschlichen Wünsche zu befriedigen.
