Vacancy: Full-Time Supervisor for The Library Project

PhotoIreland is opening a new position for a full-time team member to join PhotoIreland’s retail operations online and at The Library Project, Ireland’s Art Bookshop in Dublin’s Temple Bar. The post holder will be responsible for ensuring the smooth transaction of sales, actively contributing to targeted sales figures, the daily upkeep of the bookshop, while providing a welcoming environment and courteous point of contact for all visitors, as well as assisting with events such as exhibitions and book launches.

Candidates should consider that PhotoIreland is an ambitious arts organisation with exciting changes under way, providing substantial opportunities to grow within the company, based on the candidate’s professional performance as much as interest. The Supervisor role offered would progress into a Sales Manager position.

Basic Details

  • Full-time position of 5 days a week, including occasional weekend work
  • The working hours will be fixed, requiring occasional flexibility
  • The pay is €15/hour
  • The position includes a probation period of 3 months

Process

  • The deadline for applications is 6pm Sunday 16th March
  • Interviews will be held from the 18th March 
  • The position will start on 24th March

Main Duties

  • Running the retail operations online and offline:
    • Ensuring a smooth day-to-day running of all retail operations
    • Undertaking administrative duties
    • Processing online orders
    • Liaison with publishers, artists, and distributors
    • Identifying, ordering, and processing new stock
    • Planning creative merchandising approaches
    • Delivering consistent and high-quality customer service
  • Strengthen income generation:
    • Meeting monthly budgets and sales targets
    • Analysing sales patterns, devising and applying new strategies
    • Expand the existing sales network
    • Contribute to communication strategies 
    • Organising and producing sales events
    • Supporting the delivery of The Library Project’s events calendar
    • Other duties as required

Essential Skills and Experience

  • The candidate must have: 
    • Minimum 5 years cash-handling and retail
    • Previous supervisory experience
    • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
  • The candidate should have: 
    • Motivated, organised, reliable skills, with a proactive and positive attitude
    • Demonstrated ability to work on own initiative, problem solving competence
  • In addition, it will be valued:
    • Experience and knowledge of contemporary arts and culture
    • Experience in hospitality, catering, and other public facing roles
