Art Bookshop Ireland

IN PROGRESS: Emily McEvoy, Tyrell McBride, Dee Byrne, and Lisa Folschette.

auf May 06, 2025

With the kind support of the Arts Council of Ireland, PhotoIreland and Inspirational Arts present ongoing works by RADAR emerging artists Emily McEvoy, Tyrell McBride, Dee Byrne, and Lisa Folschette, presented together for the first time.

In Of Petals, Pearls and Inherited Creatures, Dee Byrne examines emotional inheritance and female identity through an exploration of familial object histories and the intimate bonds between women in my family. Informed by Galit Atlas’s Emotional Inheritance, Annabelle Birsch’s A History of Women in 101 Objects, and Lydia Yuknavitch’s Letter to My Rage, this work explores the active nature of inheritance. The work involves sitespecific portraiture, archive imagery and embroidery, to reflect on inherited behaviours and emotional legacies from both my maternal and paternal lines.

Lisa Folschette’s Memento illam vixisse is an ongoing project that began in 2023. It delves into the quiet weight of grief and loneliness—how spaces, once full of life, begin to dull and fall silent when solitude takes hold.

Utilising the three-dimensional photograph as a vessel of connection, through the physicality of touch, in Untitled, Emily McEvoy brings the conventional photographic portrait into the realm of the sculptural. Capturing silhouetted images of the self and family, this series seeks to explore how our relationship with portraiture can be transformed or enriched when we consider the surface of our images. The work invites reflection and discussion on the boundaries of the photographic medium.

Why Speak If I Have Nothing to Say? is a deeply personal project by Tyrell McBride that delves into themes of desolation, disconnection, isolation, and the enduring hope for something better. The title originates from a question posed to him by his therapist during a discussion about writing—one that has stayed with him ever since.

Enjoy at The Library Project until 29th June a sample from these four ongoing projects by RADAR emerging artists Emily McEvoy, Tyrell McBride, Dee Byrne, and Lisa Folschette.
