Hermann Stamm's statements about his work, Pictures from the Record of Reflection, which he began more than forty years ago, formulate the core of his photographic work, which is now available as a book for the first time. Stamm's work has little in common with the selfie that is widespread today. Rather, the author follows a strict concept in which his life, his aging and ultimately his death are discussed. The recordings function as a kind of clock that documents the passage of time. The selected locations, which can be seen in the background, mostly show places of historical or political interest, making Hermann Stamm a contemporary witness and adding a second, important level to the photographic work.
