Artist Statement

'I Almost Always Write in Pink Ink' challenges you to contemplate the quietude of life against a world that is too loud, too bright, too intense and too quiet, creating a space where others can see the pulsating disarray of an autistic mind. Reframing autistic movement not as something that needs fixing or through the lens of deficits, but instead recognising it as a different way of engaging with the world. The work treats neurodiversity as kaleidoscopic, impacting the way people view, understand, and react to their environment.

About the Artist

Sadhbh Lynam (b. 2000) is a visual artist from Wexford, Ireland. She holds a Master’s in Photography, Fine Art and Media (Art and Design) from Aalto University and a BA (Hons) in Documentary Photography from the University of South Wales, UK. Her practice explores personal and societal constructs that shape identity, often emerging from an introspective perspective. Working predominantly with analogue techniques, she also incorporates alternative print methods and text within her work.

Her work was recently included in StationtoStation (2025), a collaborative publication produced by the University of South Wales. The ongoing work I Almost Always Write in Pink Ink was exhibited at The Finnish Museum of Photography in January 2025. Her self-published photobook Don’t Forget The Bush You Dried Your Shirt On (2023) received recognition from the Reginald Salisbury Award. Lynam has exhibited at the University of Lapland, Rovaniemi (2023), Dipoli, Aalto University, Helsinki (2024), Shift Gallery, Cardiff (2023), and Cathays Community Centre, Cardiff (2021).
