Encounters, Vol. 1: Ten years of writing inspired by art

Encounters Vol. 1 compiles ten of Ireland’s most
accomplished writers and poets responding to a decade of
contemporary art exhibitions at Temple Bar Gallery +
Studios.

This collection includes thoughtful reflections, pithy
abstractions, fantastical prose, and poetic forms which
reflect a range of literary styles and approaches. The
writing illustrates the many remarkable experiences and
expressions that occur when visual art meets the written
word, revealing a certain type of magic when creative
disciplines meet.

With contributions by Sara Baume, Claire-Louise Bennett,
Gavin Corbett, Nicole Flattery, Ian Maleney, Thomas Morris,
Annemarie Ní Churreáin, Doireann Ní Ghriofa, Padraig
Regan, Nidhi Zak/Aria Eipe, and a commissioned essay by
Gustav Parker Hibbett.

‘The best art lingers in your thoughts, long after an exhibition is over. Encounters, Vol. 1 extends this with a rare, and remarkable chance to get inside the minds of both artists and writers. Here are words, moments and insights to savour and return to, time and again.’  — Gemma Tipton, Arts and Culture Writer for The Irish Times

‘This amazing line-up of writers and artists is proof, if any were needed, that Dublin’s cultural quarter is a place where exciting things happen, where real talents mingle and their ideas collide.’
— Anne Enright, Irish author and Professor of Fiction, University College Dublin
