For the last 50 years, John Gunn has run a family owned and operated business in the heart of Dublin, selling all things photographic. Working alongside his wife and daughters, John’s kind and radiant personality is well known; anyone who has visited the shop knows and has been lucky to experience the special and very personal service offered only by the Gunns.
As one of Dublin’s most loved personalities, John Gunn is also one of the most photographed people of Dublin. To celebrate his 90th birthday this March, PhotoIreland is pleased to host an exhibition at The Library Project celebrating John Gunn’s life.
The event will see the participation of over 40 photographers who have captured John Gunn's working and family life, and the legendary shop, as well as a number of anecdotes from visitors local and from abroad who have experienced the extraordinary kindness and help of John Gunn over the years.
With special thanks to all the contributing photographers Amelia Stein, Amy O'Sullivan, Aodhan Ceallaigh, Ari Carmody, Brian Treanor, Charles Seán Hurley, Conor Dowling, Constanza Cruz, Denise Brett, Eddie Mallin, Ellius Grace, Emma Prendiville, Fernanda.
