About the Artist

Joe Hollingsworth is an illustrator based in Dublin.

His art is inspired by nature and man-made structures alike, and is true to life with a unique, bold yet cozy style. He is passionate about drawing and has been doing so since he was a small child. He has illustrated and published unique print ranges, which are listed in an increasing number of select independent stores.

His art is created using a drawing tablet and a stylus pen. Creating it by hand means the finished work is natural and hand-made, while also having the benefits of digital editing to allow details to be clean and precise.

A sharp pen-like brush is used to create the bold black linework. Vibrant colours chosen to make the art pop. The shading is then airbrushed to give everything a soft and round sheen to it. The backgrounds are also airbrushed to give a depth of field and are vibrantly coloured, typically contrasting with the colours of the subject to help both parts stand out.

Every illustration seeks to capture the likeness of the individual creature or structure in a true-to-life manner, feeling natural while also giving a little hint of personality and character.
