DESCRIPTION

This is Our Place: A Survey of Dalymount Park the Home of Irish Football contains 29 drawings from the map of Dalymount Park along with three commissioned essays: Dr Margarita Cappock, Mapping Dalymount; Prof Gerry Kearns, At Home with the Bohemians; Stephen Burke, From Dancing Policemen to Dancing in the Floodlights: Building Dalymount 1901 – 2021.

This project hopes to contribute to current discourse on the importance of social and cultural infrastructure in the construction of our urban communities. It is unique in bringing together a rare crossover of areas of interest; maps/cartography, art/drawing, local interest/history, architecture/planning, sport/football. This map and publication come at a time when, after 120 years of stewardship, ownership of Dalymount has transferred from Bohemian FC to Dublin City Council who will develop the site as a municipal sports amenity. It will remain the home ground of Bohs maintaining their relationship with place and the local community. This publication records the much loved stadium poised in this moment before huge change.
