Reproductions Direct From Papers is a collection of images compiled from the artist’s ongoing archive of newspaper photographs. The book evokes a climate of disaster, death and collapse leaning on the history and the mechanisms of news production. Removed from their original context, the images construct an unfixed narrative for the reader to comprehend. By addressing the complex relationship between sender and receiver – language and image, Jóhannsson continues his examination of visual culture, its production and reception.
