Presently Elsewhere is a black-and-white photobook made on the streets of Dublin, examining a pervasive condition of contemporary urban life: we coexist by mentally exiting. We share spacewhile inhabiting different worlds - close in body, unreachable in mind. Others register as mass and trajectory, sensed just long enough to adjust course before attention retreats inward.
The formal language performs this instability. Compression and hard contrast alternate with motion blur and optical dissolution - the visible consequences of photographing withdrawal from inside it. The camera is an instrument of the same proximity and evasion it attempts to make visible. Each image is an encounter already beginning to dissolve, a present tense that cannot hold itself steady.
