DESCRIPTION

On the evening of 13 January 2012, the Costa Concordia with 4,229 people on board hit a shallow water in front of the Giglio Island. Three hours later the cruise ship is lying on its side a few meters from the coast: it is the largest ocean liner ever to be wrecked in the world and the tragedy takes 32 lives with it. Ten years after the shipwreck, the Costa Concordia no longer exists. Symbol of a tragedy, the wreck has been straightened, dismantled and largely recycled: today thousands of tons of steel are found in the foundations of Italian bridges and buildings. What remains today of that tragedy? Objects scattered throughout Italy, relics that tell stories, traces of memory about life on board, stories of survivors, the fear of death and the joy of salvation.
