WHAT TO EXPECT
A 2 day introduction to fanzines and DIY publishing; make you own zine and exhibit it. This workshop is ideal for anyone interested in art, photography, design, writing, storytelling etc and would like to get their work out there.

DESCRIPTION
The aim of this workshop is to introduce participants to the world of independent publishing using zines, with guidance from artist Steven Maybury of The Library Project. Participants will be guided to make a small edition publication for each person to take away and distribute, encouraging a community of sharing and expressing ideas via publishing.

Zines are a unique platform for creativity and a wonderful introduction to independent publishing. Zine making offers a platform that encourages creative intuition through craft, design, editing, reflecting, story-telling, writing and much more. Being DIY in nature, the format offers a space for self-expression that can be seen in the uniqueness of all handmade zines.

The location of The Library Project will be used as a space of inspiration for the workshop with access to a curated selection of its unique examples of zines from it's photo library. It will host the space for facilitating the workshop and also an exhibiting space where the zines will be encouraged to explore alternative means of displaying/ publicising content to further celebrate the process of experimental publishing.

This event is a 2 day program:
- Workshop Intro – Wednesday 4th June, 5pm-8pm
The workshop will include an intro to zines and DIY publishing, followed by making a zine.
- Finishing and Presenting – Saturday 7th June, 11pm-2pm
The second day, coinciding with Cruinniú na nÓg, will focus on finalising the zines and making a public moment and display with the zine content made in The Library Project.
