About the Artist

Graduating with a First-Class Honours degree in Photography from the Institute of Art, Design and Technology (IADT). Evanna Devine is a photographer from Belfast. Her work is driven by a commitment to storytelling and community collaboration. Focusing on underrepresented voices, capturing narratives that engage with communities in meaningful and long-lasting ways.
Her first solo exhibition, It is Different for Mothers, featured sixteen portraits of women who lost children during The Conflict in the North of Ireland. Marking the 25th anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement, she collaborated with Relatives for Justice and other advocacy organisations to present work which responded to themes of legacy, motherhood and future generations. This experience reinforced her dedication to using photography as a tool for dialogue, remembrance and change.

Since then, Evanna has been working closely with youth centres in Newry, photographing boxers growing up along the borderlands of Northern Ireland in her project, Every Glove. Through this project, she explores cross-generational shifts within Northern Ireland’s socio-political landscape. Every Glove has seen her awarded the Early Career Artist Award from Photo Museum Ireland, PhotoIreland’s RADAR Residency and a place in the prestigious Canon Student Development Award.
At the heart of her practice is a passion for collaboration and a drive to tell important stories that often go unheard. Through photographic portraiture, she strives to capture the complexities of ideas of class, Irish heritage and identity in contemporary Ireland.
