Sensation, Colin Graham

This book of personal essays traces connections across the author’s childhood, adolescence, and adulthood. Rooted in his experience growing up in 1980s Belfast, these personal essays reach out to the present day and reflect back on their origins, each asking in a different way how the self is formed and how what we read and see makes us who we are. Interweaving politics, literature, music, and nature, Sensation moves across memory and experience, text and sense, cataloguing and examining the entangled elements of a life.

Colin Graham is Professor of English at Maynooth University. He is the author of Northern Ireland: 30 Years of Photography, Deconstructing Ireland (2001), and Ideologies of Epic (1998). He was the co-editor of the Irish Review from 2004 to 2020.
