DESCRIPTION

"Here, The Doors Don't Know Me" is a long-term project that aims to amplify the voice of my community, half of whom have been displaced so far. From 2016 to 2022, I collaborated with the residents to document their lives in photographs, as they wrote "last letters" about their memories, the homes they were losing and the lives they used to have. In writing their letters and sharing their memories, struggles, and dreams, we dedicate this project to building awareness and community about what is happening. To transcend them to future generations, so they know they did not give up on their home or its legacy of the traditions they lived and grew up by and made the best of memories.

Here, the Doors Don't Know me is a collaboration with the protagonists, a multi-layered structured project, using a documentary photography approach, residents' archives, handwritten last letters and drawings, video, and sound.

The project has over 500 Photographs, 800 archival images, Penpals, maps, 40 letters, 35 drawings.

All the credit goes to the residents and the protagonists of the story
who participated over the years in order to shape the story.
