Better Must Come brings together a selection of Marianne Keating’s films, archival research and writings, alongside conversations and critical essays with artists, writers and researchers, Kodwo Eshun, Davinia Gregory-Kameka, and Ruairí McCann. Spanning works made over a decade, the publication explores histories of migration, land, labour, displacement and colonialism, moving between Ireland, Jamaica and more. 

Bringing together moving image works, archival material and critical and personal perspectives, the book reflects Keating’s research-led practice and her interest in how histories are recorded, remembered and carried into the present. The accompanying texts and conversations extend the films, opening up questions around place, identity, memory and the political and social structures that shape them
