Across cultures such as the Yoruba, Zulu, and Wolof, hairstyles marked rites of passage and significant life stages. Braids, locs, twists, and cornrows became expressions of identity, while communal hair care rituals reinforced cultural connection and belonging.

Ólámídé Ojégbenro is an Irish award-winning visual artist and filmmaker with a BA in Arts Management, including study abroad at Universidad Europea del Atlántico, Santander, and an MA in Design for Change from the Institute of Art, Design and Technology (IADT), Dún Laoghaire, completed in collaboration with George Brown College, Toronto, Canada.

Ólámídé's work pushes creative boundaries by focusing on distinctive and diverse faces, showcasing BIPOC artists through his lens.
