For over a year, photographic artist Gerry Blake has been examining the ritual practice of regular sea swimming. Visiting more than 10 bathing areas, he depicts individual swimmers as they approach the sea at various times of the day.\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cem\u003eInto the Sea\u003c\/em\u003e\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003eportrays them at their most thoughtful and reflective in the moments before they plunge into the open waters.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eSwimmers in Dublin have the advantage of a large number of bathing places. Many were built over 150 years ago, when the coastal railway line was constructed. These iconic bathing spots have served many generations of swimmers, year-round, and continue to be places of both communal gathering and solitary meditation.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003ca href=\"https:\/\/gerryblake.net\/\" target=\"_blank\"\u003e\u003cstrong\u003egerryblake.net\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/a\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cmeta charset=\"utf-8\"\u003eFor those that are not familiar with the project, \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/photoireland.org\/project\/tlp-editions\/\" title=\"TLP Editions\"\u003eTLP Editions\u003c\/a\u003e is an ongoing collection, produced and designed by \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/photoireland.org\/about-photoireland\/\" title=\"PhotoIreland\"\u003ePhotoIreland\u003c\/a\u003e, that presents work by contemporary artists in the form of uncomplicated publications. These are available through \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/www.thelibraryproject.ie\/\" title=\"The Library Project\"\u003eThe Library Project\u003c\/a\u003e in-store and online. All and any funds generated by the project go to producing more copies of the publications, ensuring we can keep promoting the artists and practices represented. These editions are regularly showcased and donated to international events and festivals, such as the Icelandic Photography Festival recently.
