"Lots of Cake! was born out of a conversation with my friend on the way to set up an exhibition. I had just celebrated my graduation and my mum had, as usual, thrown a great party. This was something I had almost taken for granted, but after this conversation, I decided to document these celebrations. What began as a document of our family life quickly evolved into a revelation of my mums character and imagination. I feel that there really needs to be an essence of her character in the project outcome. So I have decided to make a book. The book features images shot in and around my family home over a period of two years. The layout of the book is inspired by Tzvetan Todorov's narrative theory, and features hand written recipes from my mother inside.“
